Job Title: Assistant Grower

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Grower to join our team at Dyson Farming. As an Assistant Grower, you will be responsible for the development of automated growing solutions with external parties, supporting internal project work, and managing the irrigation and nutrition of crops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading on the development of automated growing solutions with external parties
  • Supporting internal project work
  • Responsible for irrigation and nutrition management of crops
  • Responsible for the management and basic maintenance of the irrigation system
  • Ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues by adhering to company H&S policies and procedures.
  • Proactive attitude and commitment to Health & Safety
  • Cover for the application and recording of Plant Protection Products in line with the Agronomist or Grower's recommendation
  • Cover for basic maintenance and cleaning of all spray equipment following use
  • Management and recordkeeping of fertiliser and chemical stock
  • Responsible for ensuring the nutrient solution stock tanks are being replenished in line with the Agronomist and/or Grower's recommendation
  • Ensuring UV treatments are carried out as agreed with the Grower
  • Ensuring all working areas are kept clean and tidy
  • Supporting the Grower with day to day data collection and recordkeeping
  • Completing crop assessments for P&D and producing required reports
  • Crop walking with the Agronomist and P&D specialists
  • Escalate major breakdowns to line manager or Assistant Glasshouse Manager
  • Producing reports for the Grower

Requirements:

  • Completed PA1, PA6 and PA9 preferably
  • Hold a forklift truck licence
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong IT skills including Excel
  • Professional manner and effective communication skills
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Willing to take responsibility and ownership for tasks
  • Ability to work under own initiative but also as part of a multifunctional team
  • Required to work extended hours and weekends during harvest and busy periods.
