Job Title: Software Development Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our Development & Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, managing, and updating machine software applications, contributing to the full product life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Development of software for automation and control of machinery
• Support on site manufacturing and laboratory facilities
• Interacting with customers during design and after sales support
• Work closely with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers
• Actively working with all departments to identify problems and develop solutions to maximise quality
• Maintain / continuously improve current product line
• Generation of supporting documentation, e.g. BoMs / Reports / User Guides

Requirements:

• Degree educated (or with equivalent experience) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or similar
• Extensive experience using LabVIEW
• Windows IoT experience
• Advanced knowledge of hardware integration and industrial communication (EtherCAT, TwinCAT and/or CANopen preferred)

Additional Skills:

• Experience with PLCs, stepper motors, variable frequency drives
• Knowledge of other programming languages such as C, C#, C++ or Python
• Knowledge of EU directives and CE Marking
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail, adaptable and responds well to change
• Exercises judgement to make decisions within broadly defined practices and policies
• Able to work in an extremely fast-paced-low volume, high value, high-variation manufacturing environment
