Job Opportunity

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant for a special needs school catering to pupils with complex learning difficulties.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in supporting students with challenging behavior and disabilities, who can provide individualized attention and care to our pupils.

The ideal candidate will have a NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification and relevant experience working with children with severe learning difficulties.

This is a term-time only position, Monday to Friday, with a focus on supporting the educational and welfare needs of our pupils.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to uphold our high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills development for our pupils.
  • Attend to personal care needs, following each student's Care Plan.
  • Promote positive student behavior and keep students on task.
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Monitor and record student responses and achievements.
  • Assist in the implementation of educational and care programs.
  • Select and maintain appropriate resources and specialist equipment.
  • Liaise with staff and other professionals, providing necessary student information.
  • Supervise students during breaks and educational visits, facilitating games and activities.
  • Physically assist students during activities, such as PE.

Please note that this role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
