Job Overview

Verisk is seeking a talented Junior Software Developer to join our Technology Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality software solutions and contributing to the development of our client-facing web application (GRiD).

About the Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our agile team to gather requirements, refine, and deliver user-focused improvements
  • Communicate effectively with team members on technical projects
  • Develop high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code that meets user requirements
  • Work collaboratively with other Developers, Project Owners, UX designers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality solutions

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven track record of developing in Python
  • Awareness of Django and the Django Rest Framework
  • Familiarity with building web applications, common design patterns, and underlying architectures
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, both in authoring and consuming
  • Good level of experience in SQL and database interaction
  • Knowledge and awareness of how to apply Web Security best practices
  • Good understanding of git and working collaboratively on team-level code base
  • Understanding of frontend web technologies and how web browsers behave and perform

Desirable

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms such as AWS
  • Experience using docker or other container orchestration technologies
  • Experience of the Linux command line and basic Linux server administration skills
