Origination and Business Development Specialist for Mergers and Acquisitions

We are seeking a commercially minded, proactive individual to join our M&A origination team. As an Origination and Business Development Specialist for Mergers and Acquisitions, you will be responsible for the proactive identification and assessment of potential target investment companies, mapping and researching markets relevant to a client's acquisition criteria, and highlighting potential targets and shareholders and assessing their fit for the client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactive identification and assessment of potential target investment companies
  • Mapping and researching markets relevant to a client's acquisition criteria
  • Highlighting potential targets and shareholders and assessing their fit for the client
  • Preparing M&A prospect reports highlighting key characteristics
  • Leading the outreach to prospective targets, supporting the lead advisor throughout
  • Support deal team with research and meeting preparation
  • Meeting prospective clients/business owners
  • Maintaining databases to support overall business performance
  • Involvement in various aspects of a transaction, with extensive interaction with clients
  • Provision of research information to support transaction execution
  • Preparation of presentations for management team meetings
  • Individual company analysis and research of selected target companies, including financial, strategic, and competitor analysis

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of deal origination/business development is highly desirable
  • Evidence of academic achievement – a degree is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, including prioritisation, scheduling, and time management
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
