About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Asset Planning Sponsor to join our Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water. As an Asset Planning Sponsor, you will play a key role in helping us deliver exceptional service to our customers while protecting the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with operational colleagues to identify asset risks or opportunities that may require additional intervention to resolve.
  • Understand the business need in the context of the company's strategic, operational, and regulatory drivers.
  • Identify and lead investigations into asset performance shortfalls or opportunities and identify a notional solution where appropriate.
  • Lead projects through the investigation phase, ensuring that potential solutions to new regulatory obligations or asset performance shortfalls are fully investigated, utilizing expert and partner resources as required.
  • Drive TOTEX hierarchy opportunities (maximizing no build, process optimization, improved maintenance) before considering CAPEX.
  • Balance OPEX, CAPEX, and Carbon along with business needs resilience to achieve an optimum output.
  • Commercial discussions and challenges with Contract Partners.
  • Ownership of the Business Case and securing funding for the project through business governance routes.
  • Understanding project risks during the life of the scheme, through Scope change (quality), Cost, Time, and managing any residual risk.

Requirements:

  • Engineering/process knowledge and experience of Clean Water Distribution asset base and its operation.
  • Risk Management understanding and experience.
  • Understanding of Yorkshire Water Performance Commitments.
  • Influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Well-organized and methodical.
  • Ability to understand root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of Engineering Specifications.
  • Understanding of site process safety – representation in Hazard Study Process.
  • Full Driving Licence.
