Luton, Luton, United Kingdom Leonardo Full time
The Opportunity

Leonardo offers a range of Apprenticeships from 2-4 years across various STEM and business routes, providing paid training and on-the-job learning to gain practical skills, experience, and knowledge that sets up the best start to your career.

Whether you're leaving school or college with GCSEs/Standards, A 'Levels/Highers (or equivalent) or in work and looking for a new career path, you're fully supported as you rotate within the business working on real-time projects alongside highly skilled professionals who are passionate about their work.

As you would expect from a globally renowned company, we offer competitive starting salaries from £14,000 to £20,500 per annum and fully support your academic learning through to qualifications, so there's no need to get into debt. We support helping you settle into your new location, ensuring you're familiar with the team and have a warm welcome from day one.

Leonardo values people who look to always develop throughout their career and along with an eager willingness to learn, a successful apprenticeship with us involves a drive to deliver results, sometimes from your own initiative, a patience for problem-solving, as well as a need to comply with safety instructions and clear process compliance at all times. We view commitment to programme and learning objectives very highly.

Leonardo is an international leader in electronic and information technologies for defence systems, aerospace, data, infrastructures, land security, and protection, and sustainable 'smart' solutions. We're a continually expanding company, offering exciting opportunities to talented individuals who want to work at the forefront of technology.

What You'll Do as a Technical Apprentice

As a Technical Apprentice, you'll commit to the successful completion of all your academic modules and assignments in support of your Apprenticeship in Engineering Technical Support (Apprenticeship Standard Ref: ST0457).

During your first year, you'll spend time at college completing a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the foundation qualification of your apprenticeship. Upon completion, you'll return to Leonardo to start your rotational placements, keeping a log of all the work you complete, which will be used towards your apprenticeship. In your second year, you'll attend college on a day-release basis to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the knowledge qualification of your apprenticeship, and continue with your rotational placements.

In your third year, you'll continue to rotate around different departments, gaining further knowledge of the company and developing your engineering skills. Your third year will also see you through the workplace portfolio phase of your Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the competence qualification of your apprenticeship. For your final year, you'll complete the End Point Assessment for your apprenticeship and focus your development in a final work placement that lasts for the remainder of the apprenticeship.
