Main Areas of Responsibility

As a Behavioural Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with their pastoral and academic challenges. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Inducting students into the operational systems of the school
  • Identifying students who would benefit from academic mentoring and ensuring the necessary support is in place
  • Working with the Head of Sixth Form to develop strategies to improve attendance and punctuality, particularly for students with attendance below 96%
  • Responding to students with persistent absence and implementing appropriate interventions
  • Supporting the Head of Sixth Form in celebrating student success and communicating with families
  • Investigating incidents, finding solutions to build positive relationships, and communicating with families
  • Contributing to the Sixth Form enrichment programme
  • Supporting students and families in exploring next steps in education, such as UCAS applications and internships
  • Working closely with the DSL and relevant agencies to safeguard children in the Year Groups
  • Facilitating information sharing between school staff and partner agencies
  • Providing administrative support to the Head of Sixth Form
