About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Resolution Planning Lead to join our team at Barclays. As a key member of the Valuations in Resolution (ViR) team, you will play a vital role in maintaining BAU valuation capabilities for resolution scenarios.

The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of banking assets and liabilities, including financial instruments, and be able to build relationships with stakeholders across multiple areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting ViR assurance activities such as dry-runs, simulations, and other ad-hoc resolution valuation exercises.
  • Interacting with Subject Matter Experts across Stress testing, Impairments, Businesses, Group Finance, and Product Controls Valuations as part of BAU deliverables and regulatory requests.
  • Maintaining the ViR Framework, including model validation, documentation refresh, and controls assessment.
  • Contributing to project management aspects of ViR, such as tracking delivery, providing management updates, running governance forums, and supporting regulatory submissions.

The salary for this role is approximately £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Development and evaluation of potential resolution strategies for distressed entities, analysis of financial implications, and potential impact of each strategy.
  • Development and maintenance of recovery and resolution plans for the bank's business units and entities, assessment of critical functions, and dependencies to ensure continuity of essential services in case of distress.
  • Analysis of financial data and assessment of the viability of distressed entities to evaluate financial strength, capital position, and liquidity risks faced by distressed entities.
  • Recovery: Oversight of Barclays' Financial Crisis Management Framework (jointly with Treasury); maintenance of Barclays' Group Recovery Plan.
  • Resolution: Maintenance of resolution capabilities across the Group and its Material Legal Entities; coordination and delivery of regulatory and public disclosures (UK and Europe).
  • RRP controls and governance: Assurance processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and expectations.
  • Valuation in Resolution capabilities: Maintenance of appropriate valuation capabilities, including models, methodologies, processes, and documentation, including process to onboard an external valuer if necessary.
  • Holistic testing of resolvability capabilities: decision-making and governance processes across 10 workstreams tested with Boards, Ex Cos, and senior AEs.
  • Support business stakeholders across the group, including SMRs, in meeting global regulatory requirements against multi-year agendas.
  • Communication with regulators to provide timely updates on the bank's recovery and resolution activities.
