About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to lead the market engagement elements of the Underwriting Team, working closely with Managing Agents and developing relationships with key stakeholders. You will be responsible for providing full relationship oversight and guidance to a team of underwriters, ensuring the strategic needs of the Corporation and the objectives of the Underwriting team are met.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the market engagement elements of the Underwriting Team, working with Managing Agents and developing relationships with key stakeholders both in and outside of the organisation
  • SME for Underwriting, be a key referral point for underwriting queries and information within Lloyd's
  • Contribute towards Lloyd's oversight and management of controls, peer review and audits
  • Fulfil the requirements and responsibilities of an RD, including mandatory training as required by the regulator
  • Management and ownership of the Lloyd's Underwriting Authority process within the UK Branch Design, implementation and ownership of the Seconded Underwriter Community Plan
  • Link the Underwriting Community with the Lloyd's Branch Network to facilitate greater trading opportunities across the network
  • Oversee compliant entry of new entrants to the Lloyd's platform
  • Contribute towards Corporation-wide initiatives including: Multinational project Lloyd's Lab
  • Membership, attendance and contribution to UK Branch governing committees, deputising for the Head of Underwriting upon request
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with Lloyd's Market Managing Agents, Underwriters and other appropriate team members to facilitate trading across the network within the Lloyd's requirements


Requirements

You will need to demonstrate experience in the following:



  • Underwriting experience with experience in a lead or supervisor capacity and a strong emphasis on coaching and development
  • Proven experience of managing a team, setting KPIs and achieving targets
  • Significant experience managing activities, priorities and people up to a senior level
  • Experience advising on risk management, performance and oversight regulation
  • Sound understanding of Underwriting Principles and how they apply to LDI
  • In-depth knowledge of FCA Regulations relating to the role
  • Exposure to presenting to and/or communicating with regulators
  • Demonstrable ability to use own initiative
  • Proven Experience of Relationship Management. Strong Communications skills
  • Flexible in personal approach
  • Evidence of Problem-Solving outcomes gained through experience
  • Must have a thorough and comprehensive understanding of underwriting guidelines and correspondent overlays
