Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled SEN Education Specialist to join our team at LAW Absolute. As a permanent member of our department, you will be responsible for providing expert legal advice on SEN Education law, adhering to the Legal Services Core Competencies Framework.

About the Position:

  • Provide legal advice in relation to SEN Education law, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Manage and provide advice on your own caseload of varied complex matters with minimal supervision.
  • Act as a senior and specialist legal advisor, supporting a significant portfolio of work that directly delivers on the Council's key priorities and areas of risk.
  • Undertake complex proceedings on behalf of the council with minimal supervision, including complex advocacy work.
  • Deputise for senior lawyers and support junior legal colleagues in their work if required.
  • Work closely with Elected Members and Directorate and Corporate teams as required to provide strategic support.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate. You will have good knowledge of both mainstream and SEN education law and practices. You will be ambitious, a team player, driven by delivering a high-quality service, and have a positive attitude towards building relationships with social workers and your wider team.

The ability to work under pressure is imperative, be self-motivated, and able to work to deadlines. You will also need to be comfortable undertaking some advocacy. Previous SEN education local authority experience is desirable.

Key Requirements:

  • Admitted Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
