Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

Our client, a leading player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team in Barrow-In-Furness. This is a contract role within the Defence industry, focused on submarine solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and analysis of submarine structures and components
  2. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and computer-based analytical techniques
  3. Supporting manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes
  4. Considering facility and site restrictions for shipping, handling, alignment, and installation of large structures
Requirements:
  1. Expertise in structural steel analysis and design; experience in timber and concrete design beneficial
  2. Hand analysis and design techniques, including report writing
  3. Good understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER
  4. Working knowledge of ABAQUS, S-Frame, Foran, MathCAD, and Excel
  5. Previous experience in a production environment, particularly in marine production, advantageous

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer to work within a dual-function team of 14 professionals, responsible for engineering assessments and supporting the build process.
