Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to join our Power & Controls Strategic Business Unit in Wolverhampton.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance to welding processes and procedures, working closely with the Special Process Manager and Quality team. The role involves development and control of welding procedures, implementation of Technology Development Plans for new welding and joining technology, and participation in Design for Manufacture assessments and Design reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and control of welding procedures
  • Participate and implement Technology Development Plans for new welding and joining technology including robotic welding
  • Involvement in Design for Manufacture assessments and Design reviews
  • Metallurgical analysis for weld certification and welder qualification
  • Provide training and technical support to Welding Operators
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities to remove waste and improve efficiency

Requirements:

  • Significant background relating to welding and technical experience
  • Good familiarity with expectations associated with aerospace or other comprehensive quality assurance systems, including ISO9000 or AS9100
  • Highly-motivated, flexible, responsive to change, and calm under pressure
  • Experience conducting internal Quality audits or supporting Quality audits by external customers is a plus
