Lead Health Philanthropy at the University of Edinburgh

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our health philanthropy efforts, driving strategic growth and engagement with key stakeholders.

About the Role:

The Head of Philanthropy, Health will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive philanthropy strategy for the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on securing major gifts and engaging with high-level donors, alumni, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic philanthropy plan, aligned with the University's overall goals and objectives.
  • Lead a team of fundraisers and work closely with the Director of Philanthropy and College Advancement, Head of College, and Vice-Principal to achieve fundraising targets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including high-level donors, alumni, and academics.
  • Develop and implement effective engagement strategies to secure major gifts and increase philanthropic support for the College.
  • Work with alumni engagement and advancement colleagues to enrich the experiences for students, alumni, and staff in the College.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience of fundraising in Major Gifts or an equivalent level track-record of securing income in the five, six, and seven-figure region.
  • Experience of developing strategic detailed income generation and engagement plans with associated communications and reporting.
  • Knowledge of UK charity law, data protection/GDPR, governance, and experience of working with relationship management databases.
