Job Description:

We are excited to partner with a fantastic secondary school in Waltham Forest, seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This role focuses on supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 students and is a long-term opportunity with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in maintaining an organised and productive classroom environment.
  • Support behaviour management, ensuring students remain focused and engaged in lessons.
  • Provide targeted support to small groups and deliver one-on-one interventions to help students reach their full potential.
  • Step in to cover lessons in the teacher's absence, planning and delivering interventions as required.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum and implement effective strategies to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a relevant degree or HLTA qualification.
  • Has at least one year of experience working in an educational setting, ideally within a secondary school.
  • Experienced in supporting Key Stage 3 or 4 students (Years 7-11).
  • Knowledgeable about various SEN needs and experienced in providing one-on-one support.
  • Capable of building strong relationships with students quickly and effectively, helping them feel supported and confident in their learning.
