The Health Service Group team plays a leading role in Industrial Relations and workforce policy in the NHS, working with regions, branches, and other teams to win improvements for the healthcare workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing campaigns and projects run through national committees and branches, including fighting workplace discrimination and inequality.
  • Supporting the running of discrete negotiations within the NHS Staff Council work programme.
  • Supporting engagement with policymakers on health workforce issues, including through the NHS Social Partnership Forum.
  • Commissioning and conducting research, providing analysis of data to inform policy positions.

We are seeking an Assistant National Officer

The ideal candidate will help deliver the industrial relations programme for occupational therapy activists, develop digital, research, and data analysis capacity, and support policy and campaign initiatives.

Requirements

  • Good digital, research, and technical skills to develop reports, tools, and visual representations of data.
  • Excellent communication skills in person, in writing, and over social media.
  • Ability to share and/or develop expertise in policy or industrial relations issues for staff employed in the health service.

Will have experience working in a membership environment, understand democratic structures and processes, and have a developed knowledge of parliamentary and policy-making systems in the UK.
