Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Category Management Director to join our Procurement Team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the efficient and effective procurement of goods and services across the Trust, adhering to financial instructions and corporate governance procedures.
  • Manage contracts and projects to meet service requirements and annual Cost Improvement Programmes, while following relevant Procurement legislation.
  • Support the Strategic Procurement Team in identifying and delivering Procurement schemes, leading and delivering individual projects to demonstrate value for money and innovation.
  • Provide sound Procurement advice to internal team members and staff, while engaging with suppliers and building strategic working relationships.
Job Requirements
  • Manage and support the Category Support Officer in delivering procurement schemes, undertaking objective setting and day-to-day supervision.
  • Maintain key relationships with Finance Teams to ensure an understanding of each Trust's financial strategy.
  • Provide professional Procurement advice to all colleagues, ensuring compliance with Trust instructions and Public Contract Regulations.
  • Organise and hold regular meetings with divisional management teams and clinicians to progress projects.
  • Support contract management and supplier performance meetings, ensuring key performance indicators are met.
  • Undertake data analysis to create category work plans and identify areas of opportunity.
  • Manage the commercial interface between the Trust and the market place, ensuring orders are processed efficiently and pricing is accurate.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Significant experience in a Procurement department, with analysis of data and systems to produce management reports.
  • Implementation of information and procurement systems, production and delivery of training to groups of staff.
  • Database management, project management, and knowledge of Oracle Financial/Procurement solution.
Skills
  • Ability to motivate team performance to achieve objectives, high level of computer literacy.
Requirements
  • Ability to travel to various hospital locations, commitment to continued professional development, and flexibility in working hours.
