Belfast City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the development and delivery of economic growth strategies that drive investment, innovation, and prosperity in the city.

About the Role:

The Director of Economic Development and Growth will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing economic growth strategies that align with the Council's vision and objectives;
  • Leading the development and delivery of key economic growth initiatives, including business attraction, retention, and expansion;
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and pursue new economic opportunities;
  • Managing and leading a team of economic development professionals to achieve strategic objectives;
  • Developing and managing budgets to achieve economic growth targets;
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of economic growth strategies and initiatives;
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to the Council's senior leadership team on economic development matters.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in leading economic development initiatives and strategies;
  • Strong knowledge of economic development principles and practices;
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders;
  • Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
