Job Description

Derby City Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Caretaker to join our team at Becket Primary. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the security, cleanliness, and overall condition of the school premises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security: Open and lock up premises, ensuring the safety and security of students and staff.
  • Maintenance: Perform minor and major repairs, DIY tasks, and manage the upkeep of school facilities.
  • Operations: Manage heating, lighting, and other facilities to ensure a comfortable and productive learning environment.
  • Safety: Conduct regular safety checks, including HASAW and COSHH, to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Reporting: Identify and report major repair issues to the facilities team.
  • Contractor Management: Direct contractors on-site to their designated work areas.
  • Supplies: Ensure an adequate supply of toiletries and other essential items.
  • Compliance: Conduct Water Hygiene Systems Monitoring and weekly fire alarm tests.
  • Inventory: Manage stock and supplies efficiently to minimize waste and optimize resources.
