Senior Development Technician

We are seeking an experienced Senior Development Technician to join our rapidly growing team in Cambridge. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assembling and testing optical modules, constructing test rigs and prototypes, and procuring materials and parts for development projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and test optical modules to ensure high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to construct test rigs and prototypes.
  • Procure materials and parts for development projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
  • Perform cable assembly, soldering, and in-house part creation using hand tools or manual mill and lathe.
  • Conduct trials on test rigs and prototypes to validate performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to the creation of build and test documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment, adhering to safety procedures and protocols.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the R&D department as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 'A' level education in an engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years' experience in precision instrumentation development, with a strong understanding of electromechanical assembly and test.
  • Competence in machining, cable assembly, soldering, and clean assembly for optics and microfluidics.
  • Experience in an electromechanical assembly, test, or repair environment, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Organized, resourceful, and capable of working independently, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptable and a good team-worker in a project-focused environment, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
