Job Description

The Vella Group Repair Centres is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Bodyshop Manager/VDA Support to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in the bodyshop industry, working with a leading repair centre.

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Job Overview

This role involves assisting the Bodyshop Manager in overseeing daily activities, managing repair processes, and supervising staff. The successful candidate will have strong organisational, leadership, and technical skills to maintain high standards of service and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in scheduling and prioritising repair work to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards, monitoring workflow to prevent delays.
  • Support the Bodyshop Manager in maintaining a well-organised workshop environment.
Customer Service
  • Communicate with customers to provide estimates, updates, and timelines, ensuring clear and transparent communication.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve complaints professionally, aiming for 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver high-quality repairs that meet customer expectations and industry standards.
Team Supervision
  • Support the hiring, training, and development of shop employees, promoting career growth and employee engagement.
  • Assign tasks and oversee the performance of technicians and support staff, providing guidance and mentorship when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Bodyshop Manager to create a positive and inclusive team culture.
Financial Oversight
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing estimates and repair orders, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Help manage budgets, control costs, and track shop profitability, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate on inventory management for parts and supplies, minimising waste and optimising resources.
Compliance and Reporting
  • Ensure the shop adheres to all legal, environmental, and industry regulations, staying up-to-date with changing laws and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inventory, and employee activities, providing regular reports to the Bodyshop Manager.
  • Prepare reports and updates on shop performance, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
Quality Assurance
  • Inspect vehicles post-repair to confirm quality standards are met, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with insurance companies and adjusters to verify claims, ensuring efficient and effective communication.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and facilities are well-maintained, promoting a safe and healthy working environment.
VDA Support
  • Create accurate repair estimates to maximise company revenue while ensuring they are fair and reasonable, including relevant repair methodology and high-quality images and image notes.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in structural and electrical technologies, applying this knowledge to improve repair processes and customer satisfaction.
  • Familiarise yourself with all Work Provider contracts, ensuring compliance and optimal collaboration.
  • Liaise with Customers and keep them fully updated regarding estimate creation and any subsequent changes in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Ensure supplementary estimates are addressed in a timely manner and submitted for further authority in line with our contractual agreements with supporting images, furthermore update internal management systems to reflect the change in estimate.
  • Enter accurate notes within Estimating and Internal management systems to record events in relation to the claim.

A degree of flexibility will be required in hours attended subject to work volumes and additional or alternative duties may be requested from time to time, both at your normal place of work and other locations.
