About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead FaIR Model Developer to join our team at the Met Office. As a Lead FaIR Model Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the FaIR Simple Climate Model to deliver high-impact policy-relevant climate science.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in climate and earth system science, with a publication record supporting delivery of high-impact science. You will be responsible for contributing to international activities, such as supporting IPCC projections, and collaborating with IAM partners on scenario development and understanding mitigation options.

In this role, you will work closely with colleagues from various departments to develop and maintain climate models, such as the FaIR Simple Climate Model. You will also provide expert advice and support to UK Government departments on climate change mitigation strategies.

The annual salary for this position is up to £57,639, which includes a base pay of £41,725 and an outstanding Civil Service pension. The Met Office offers a great benefits package, including 27.5 days of annual leave (rising to 32.5 days after 5 years) and the option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.
