We are seeking a qualified solicitor or barrister to join our National Police team, based in Guildford. As part of this role, you will act exclusively for the police service, representing various forces across England and Wales. With over 15 years of experience, our team has been involved in high-profile cases, and we are now recruiting for lawyers to advise, prepare, and present civil protective orders in the Magistrates' Court.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Manage a caseload of civil protective order applications, including Domestic Violence Protection Orders, Stalking Protection Orders, Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, Sexual Risk Orders, Anti-Social Behaviour injunctions, and closure orders.
  2. Represent police forces and advocate in disclosure applications to the Family court.
  3. Present cases in the Magistrates' and County courts.
  4. Provide face-to-face training to groups of police officers.
  5. Assist the Team Manager and other team members with their cases, client development, client training, networking, and public speaking.
  6. Liaise with various parties, including other solicitors, experts, counsel, and clients.
  7. Control Case Manager diary and action lists.
  8. Attend court hearings as appropriate.
  9. Draft various documents, including court applications.
  10. Satisfy standards of client care and compliance with SLAs in accordance with guidelines and directions.
  11. Complete Client MI procedures.
  12. Achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
  13. Comply with relevant rules, policies, and procedures.
  14. Keep up to date with legal developments.
  15. Work in accordance with Weightmans' values.
