Job Overview

As a pivotal figure in our Engineering teams, the Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in guiding our squads towards success. Balancing responsibilities as a leader and a technical expert, you will need to possess a profound understanding of what drives and inspires exceptional software engineers. Your role will involve assisting with complex technical challenges and collaborating effectively with Product Managers to enhance the value we deliver to our clients.

This position focuses on overseeing our Software Engineering Foundations squad, which is tasked with managing our developer tools and core platform across various technologies including AWS, Frontend, Backend, and mobile applications. You will work closely with our Technical Product Manager and Senior Engineering Manager to support internal stakeholders and spearhead significant initiatives within Gousto Tech. Furthermore, you will facilitate teamwork and implement a platform-as-a-service model from team structures to ensure we deliver meaningful changes and value where it is most needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor platform engineers across diverse technology platforms, cultivating a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and remain informed about industry trends to promote best practices in Platform Engineering.
  • Engage with internal technical stakeholders to comprehend their requirements and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Define and oversee product requirements and roadmaps, aligning objectives with business goals and delivering high-quality results.
  • Enhance the developer experience by implementing tools and processes that optimize workflows and boost productivity.
  • Encourage continuous improvement within the team, fostering process enhancements and data-driven decision-making.

Who You Are

  • You have demonstrated experience leading high-performing, autonomous engineering teams in intricate environments.
  • You possess a delivery-oriented mindset, understanding the urgency of our objectives.
  • You advocate for XP or similar software engineering methodologies.
  • You have a solid grasp of Agile and Lean development principles.
  • You have experience designing distributed systems on a public cloud platform.
  • You possess excellent communication and presentation skills, whether addressing the engineering team, business stakeholders, or our leadership team.
  • You have a background in a fast-paced, high-growth, technology-driven organization.
  • You have a proven track record of fostering a forward-thinking technology culture.
  • You are eager to work within a Platform team and engage with internal stakeholders.
