About the Role

The Department of Goldsmiths, University of London, invites applications for a 2-year fixed-term 0.8 FTE postdoctoral research assistant position as part of a three-year Leverhulme Project Grant entitled 'Menopause in UK public discourse: visibility, content, factors and implications'.

This interdisciplinary project aims to investigate the framing of menopause in UK public discourse (2002-2022), uncover key factors contributing to menopause's growing visibility and current framing(s), and explore the implications of our current 'menopause moment'.

The postholder will investigate media, political, policy, and medical discourses, sociodemographic changes, and market data.

About the Candidate

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher with a PhD in a relevant field, such as feminist media studies, sociology, or cultural studies. The successful candidate will have a background in content and/or thematic analyses, as well as discourse analysis of diverse types of texts, including media and policy documents. Familiarity with analysing employment and market data is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of media, political, policy, and medical discourses on menopause
  • Investigate sociodemographic changes and market data relevant to menopause
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of scholarly articles, policy documents, and media texts
  • Contribute to the project's dissemination and outreach activities
  • Collaborate with the project team to achieve project objectives
