About the Role:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Client Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to ensure that lessons are delivered in accordance with students' individualized learning goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers with lesson planning and delivering lessons under the teacher's guidance.
  • Provide dedicated support to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom environment.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, ensuring the well-being and engagement of students with SEN.
  • Work with class teachers, other support staff, and the senior leadership team to provide the best educational, emotional, and social support.
  • Assist with maintaining classroom discipline and supporting students with behavioural issues.

Requirements:

  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Have a Level 4 or higher qualification.
  • Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD, and SEMH.
  • Passion to working with young people to ensure barriers to learning are overcome.
  • Confident in the delivery of pre-planned lessons and interventions.
