About the Role
Leeds Teaching Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled Anaesthesia Expert to join our team. As a Consultant in Anaesthetics, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our anaesthetic services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and consolidate expertise in anaesthesia, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care to patients.
- Develop existing relationships between anaesthesia and Clinical Service/Support Units within the Trust, promoting seamless collaboration and communication.
- Maintain and expand the excellence of teaching and research already established within the Trust, ensuring the continued development of our anaesthetic services.
- Support service plans for the specialty, taking account of changes in clinical practice and new technologies available.
- Participate in and progress Clinical Governance, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Person Specification
Essential
- FRCA or equivalent qualification.
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice. YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
Desirable
- Relevant higher degree.
Management, Interpersonal Skills & Other Criteria
Essential
- Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
- Well organised and skilled in good time management.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
- Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:
- CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process.
Desirable
- Attendance at recognised management course.
Experience
Essential
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in anaesthesia.
- Specifically, must demonstrate advanced training in Hepatobiliary Anaesthesia and experience of Liver Transplant Anaesthesia.
- Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
Essential
- CCT in Anaesthesia or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
- Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
- Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
- Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
Desirable
- Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
- Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
