Our client, a leading company in the Aberdeen region, is seeking a highly skilled HSE Advisor to join their team on a 18-month contract basis.

About the Role

The HSE Advisor will be responsible for implementing and managing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures within the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine and offshore operations, relevant legislation, and IT applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and maintain HSE-related items within the Safety Management Modules of STAR IPS
  • Review and maintain HSE-related items within the Shipboard Reporting System
  • Analyse Event and Safety Observation data for assigned vessel(s)
  • Participate in the development of improved safe systems at work and assist in the preparation of accompanying material, such as Operational Risk Assessments
  • Provide professional HSE-related advice to Shipboard Management, Safety Representatives, and other members of the Vessel Management Team
  • Provide information and training on risk management processes and safe systems of work
  • Act on matters affecting or related to the health, safety, and welfare of marine personnel, regardless of whether employed by the company or sub-contracted, and matters relating to environmental protection
  • Initiate, plan, and carry out audits to Shipboard Management systems as required and report findings at management meetings, issuing recommendations for improvement
  • Follow up on corrective actions within the context of HSE in consequence of external and internal audit and inspection reports
  • Keep updated on legislation affecting health, safety, welfare, and environmental protection, disseminate regulations, Safety Notices, and other relevant information, and inform management offshore and onshore of proceedings
Desired Qualities/Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HSE, with experience in marine and offshore operations, relevant legislation, and IT applications. A degree in a relevant field, such as HSE, engineering, or a related discipline, is required. The candidate should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
