Empowering Learning is seeking a skilled Science Technician to join our team

Job Overview:

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to provide equipment and resources for demonstration, class practical work, assessments, and examinations. The successful candidate will work closely with all staff across the department to ensure that they deliver the necessary support to facilitate high-quality teaching and learning in Science.

Key Responsibilities:

A) Preparation of science materials and equipment:

? Conduct risk assessments for technical activities

? Dispose of waste materials in accordance with CLEAPSS regulations

? Prepare equipment, chemicals, specimens, and set out apparatus, visual aids, and relevant paperwork for all lessons

? Clear laboratories and store all apparatus after use, checking that rooms are clean and ready for the next lesson

? Check individual components and ensure they are in good working order

B) Health and Safety:

? Maintain compliance with Health and Safety regulations

? Ensure that all equipment and materials are used safely and responsibly

C) Communication and Teamwork:

? Work closely with all staff across the department to ensure seamless delivery of support

? Communicate effectively with colleagues and students to ensure a smooth and efficient working environment

D) Continuous Improvement:

? Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance the department's efficiency and effectiveness

? Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Science education and technology

Requirements:

? Good working knowledge of COSHH and CLEAPSS regulations

? Ability to work independently and as part of a team

? Excellent communication and organizational skills

? Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
