Industrial Placement Maritime Services Naval Architect

As a Naval Architect at BAE Systems, you will be part of a team that designs and builds complex warships for the Royal Navy. Your role will involve using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to design structural changes, contributing to the dry docking of ships, and participating in inclining experiments to assess the stability of ships. You will also contribute to stability analyses using specialist software and help inspect ships to understand their state of repair and develop repair solutions.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Naval Architect, you will be responsible for designing and building ships that meet the needs of the Royal Navy. You will work closely with our team to ensure that our ships are safe, efficient, and effective.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Using FEA to design structural changes
  • Contributing to the dry docking of ships
  • Taking part in inclining experiments to assess the stability of ships
  • Contributing to stability analyses using specialist software
  • Helping inspect ships to understand their state of repair and develop repair solutions
Skills and Requirements
