Job Overview

The Director (Energy Development Consent Orders) role is a high-profile position within the Infrastructure Projects and Programmes Division at Open Spaces. This leadership opportunity involves overseeing a portfolio of projects, opportunities, pursuits, and people, with potential Business Unit Lead responsibilities.

This strategic role demands senior management experience in directing projects, driving them through delivery, and ensuring exceptional quality of execution. A proven track record in the energy sector, including Development Consent Orders, EIAs, and/or other planning and consent processes, is essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying, leading, and overseeing customer relationships to curate long-term partnerships.
  2. Developing new business through existing and new connections, identifying market opportunities, and driving financial growth year-on-year.
  3. Overseeing consulting functions and executing key projects to client standards.
  4. Leading individual contributors, their growth, and development.
  5. Managing and growing a substantial revenue stream and client base.
  6. Formulating long-term Business Unit infrastructure strategy, prioritizing sectors for optimal reputational and financial impact.
  7. Preparing and implementing comprehensive business plans to deliver strategies.
  8. Accountable for financial metrics and overall business results for the Business Unit, reporting monthly.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a team leadership role.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • 15+ years relevant industry experience.
  • Chartered professional or working towards it.
  • Good general knowledge of the environmental and sustainability market and in-depth knowledge of key sectors.
  • Proven experience in developing business relationships and leveraging market opportunities.
