We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Imaging Department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of junior staff.
Main Responsibilities- Provide professional, direct care to patients, demonstrating an awareness of department objectives and philosophy of care.
- Participate in the development of junior staff and assist in research activities in the unit.
- Work in a multidisciplinary led environment, adhering to all UHSussex NHS Trust policies and procedures and NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Ensure optimum use of resources while providing high-quality nursing care.
- Adhere to the Unit Philosophy for patient care to maintain and improve safe holistic care that meets individual patient needs.
- Work in accordance with all UHSussex NHS Trust policies and protocols.
- Participate in emergency medical situations in accordance with policies and procedures in the absence of medical support.
- Demonstrate highly developed physical skills, accuracy, and implementation of tools and materials.
- Responsible for the safe use of equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining stock control and security of stock.
- Support and inform family members accompanying patients for elective and emergency procedures.
- Liaise with referring doctors and ward staff to ensure pre and post-procedural care is completed.
- Prepare equipment for safe patient care during procedures, identifying potential complications of various drugs used, including contrast medium.
- Participate in the planning of procedures and management of the procedural list.
- Assess, plan, and implement total care for conscious or conscious-sedated patients, including monitoring pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, and administration of sedation and documentation.
- Registered Nurse (1st or 2nd level)
- Current registration with NMC
- Previous experience in nursing care
- Understanding of a range of clinical procedures and practices requiring expertise within a specialty, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience
- Previous medical/surgical ward experience
- Evidence of championing diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role)
- Evidence of undertaking own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
