Maternal Medicine Lead Midwife Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Maternal Medicine Lead Midwife to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will work as part of a specialist team, providing expert advice and high-quality care to women with complex medical conditions and comorbidities. This includes undertaking a holistic assessment of each woman's individual needs in partnership with the woman and planning a programme of care to meet these safely and effectively.

The Maternal Medicine Lead Midwife will lead on the development, implementation, and evaluation of care pathways, ensuring they consistently meet the needs of women and families and achieve high-quality, safe care provision in accordance with local and national recommendations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the maternal medicine service in collaboration with relevant members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to prenatal counselling clinics as required, working with medical and obstetric colleagues.
  • Take the lead in collaborative efforts for the maternal medicine service, offering support while delivering clinical excellence to ensure efficient management of service users with complex needs.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to provide high-level, holistic midwifery care that positively impacts the woman's maternity journey.
  • Support women and staff throughout the maternity journey, ensuring the mother and baby receive high-quality, safe care relevant to their individual needs, and that any birth or postnatal plans are followed up, including contraception provision.
  • Ensure personalised care plans are instigated in partnership with the woman, evaluated, and amended appropriately throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
