Cost Manager

We collaborate with clients across real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources sectors, providing expertise in major programmes, programme management, cost and commercial management, net zero, and digital solutions.
Main Responsibilities- Manage commissions of varying sizes, ensuring timely and efficient delivery
- Assist in feasibility studies and procurement reports
- Estimate and cost plan, producing and presenting final cost plans
- Tender and procure, managing pre-qualification stages and producing tender reports
- Conduct contract administration, dealing with post-contract cost variances and change control processes
- Take personal responsibility for cost checks and valuations on larger projects
- Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients
- Negotiate and agree final accounts
- Interface with clients, project managers, and other consultants at all project stages
- Collaborate with Turner & Townsend's project management team during project delivery
- Lead cost management teams where appropriate
- Utilize digital cost management tools and services
- Implement Embodied Carbon Calculator to produce carbon footprint reports
- Support the execution of the NewLeaf strategy
- Manage internal fees, job costing, and resourcing requirements
- Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients
- Develop and maintain a professional network of peers and potential clients
- Assist in bid documentation production
- Identify ways to improve cost management procedures
- Participate in extracurricular activities, including external groups and networking events
- Knowledge management: Ensure key information and learning are input into the Turner & Townsend internal database
- Process improvement: Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes
- Support, develop, and mentor junior staff members
Cost Managers typically report to Senior Cost Managers or Associate Directors
Key Performance Indicators- Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and completed efficiently and on time
- Service delivery on commissions aligns with the conditions of appointment
- Good relationships are developed with clients and cross-functional team members
- Candidates work effectively as part of the cost management team
- Opportunities are identified to develop new business with existing clients
- Margin levels are tracked on all commissions
- Key information and data are effectively cascaded and retained
