About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SWS Field Engineer to join our team at Lockheed Martin UK – Strategic Systems (LMUK SS). As a key member of our Waterfront In-Service Support team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the operational readiness of the Fire Control, Shipboard Data System, Launcher, and Strategic Weapon Support System within SWSB and onboard UK SSBN.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under the guidance of the Waterfront Associate Manager to ensure the operational readiness of the FC, SDS, Launcher, and SWSS systems.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on FC, SDS, Launcher, and SWSS systems as directed by Waterfront Lead Engineers.
  • Provide engineering support for SSBN and shore-based SWS systems and equipment.
  • Undertake shipyard activities at Barrow-in-Furness on the Dreadnought Class FC, SDS, Launcher, and SWSS as directed by the LMUK Dreadnought SITP Project Manager.
  • Offer technical advice and support to TSPT in the UK and at meetings in the USA as assigned by the Waterfront Associate Manager or Dreadnought SITP Project Manager.
  • Be primarily based at HMNB Clyde in Faslane, Scotland, while also providing support across the UK as needed.
  • Support the Class 6 Equipment Principal Engineer in the processing of Tasking Authorisation Forms (TAF) from MOD related to procurement, design, and implementation of Class 6 Equipment.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of the Trident Weapon System FC, SDS, Launcher, and SWSS systems.
  • Completed TEST Courses or equivalent training relating to section outputs.
  • Demonstrate IT skills to a competent level and have experience in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Pro-active approach to providing technical solutions to emergent challenges.
  • Able to take ownership of tasks and drive them through to successful conclusion by due deadlines.
  • Must be a confident and competent communicator at all levels using oral, written, and presentational skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.
Desired Skills
  • Completed SWSB Waterfront Engineer Courses related to section outputs (FC, SDS, Launcher, and SWSS).
  • Familiarity with the Strategic Weapon System Maintenance Activity Control (SWSMAC) information technology system.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Dreadnought Strategic Weapon System.
  • Completed SWSB Waterfront Engineer Courses related to FC, SDS, Launcher, and SWSS.
  • Knowledge and experience of Class 6 Equipment including procurement, design, and through-life management.
  • Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
