Electrical Test and Inspection Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Test and Inspection Engineer to join our team at Gov Facility Services Ltd (GFSL). As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of HMP Portland.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will have the chance to make a positive difference in the lives of prisoners and staff alike. As an Electrical Test and Inspection Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out electrical inspections and testing to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety requirements
  • Identifying and reporting any electrical defects or hazards
  • Collaborating with colleagues to maintain and improve the prison's electrical systems
  • Providing excellent customer service to prisoners and staff
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least five years' experience working as an electrician
  • Two years' experience working in a role as a test and inspection electrician or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • C&G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation)
  • C&G Electrical inspection and testing
  • NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent
