About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Academic Science Specialist to join our dynamic team at Equitas Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching science to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Assessment:
    • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality science lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
    • Use varied teaching methods to engage students and encourage a positive attitude toward science.
    • Prepare students for external assessments, ensuring all learners have the support needed to achieve their potential.
  • Curriculum Design:
    • Collaborate with the science department to develop and refine the science curriculum, aligning with national standards.
    • Implement innovative teaching strategies and use practical demonstrations to deepen students' understanding.
    • Stay updated with scientific advancements and integrate current topics into the curriculum where appropriate.
  • Pastoral Care:
    • Act as a form tutor, providing pastoral support and contributing to the broader life of the school.
    • Monitor student progress and provide guidance, helping to create a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Professional Growth:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development and actively contribute to departmental meetings and training sessions.
    • Participate in performance management and seek opportunities to enhance personal teaching practice.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • A degree in science or a related field.
  • Experience teaching science across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 experience an advantage.
  • Strong subject knowledge, passion for science, and the ability to bring concepts to life.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
