Special Needs Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a special school in Basingstoke. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teaching staff, and other support personnel to provide personalized learning support across all classes.
Job OverviewThis SEN Teaching Assistant role involves supporting students with complex learning needs, providing one-on-one attention, and leading small group activities to help students reach their academic and personal goals in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Create a safe and nurturing environment within the school and during extracurricular activities.
- Implement school policies as directed by the Headteacher.
- Serve as a positive representative of the school in the community.
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Follow the school's Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety policies, including correct procedures for accidents or incidents.
- Supervise and manage student behavior in line with school policies, including during breaks, lunchtimes, and extracurricular activities.
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience with SEN/SEND students is a plus.
- Enhanced DBS on update service.
- Patient, adaptable, and with a sense of humor.
- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the school.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and colleagues.
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistance or Education are a plus but not essential.
- A competitive daily rate of £85-£95.
