About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English with Humanities Teacher to join our team at Reddish Hall School, part of Acorn Education. As a specialist educator, you will play a vital role in inspiring and enthusing our students with a love of learning, while delivering engaging programs of study in English and Humanities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan, deliver, and assess programs of study to pupils aged 11-18 in the fields of English and Humanities
  2. Collaborate with the Head of English and the Head of Humanities to design engaging schemes of work that support pupils with diverse SEMH/SEND
  3. Support and motivate pupils to enjoy learning, using creative strategies to differentiate lessons
  4. Teach in a range of scenarios, including whole-class teaching and smaller group working as necessary
  5. Communicate effectively with the School team and external agencies, as required
  6. Work alongside support staff to adhere to school policies on behaviour and wellbeing
  7. Track and report on pupil progress towards nationally-recognised standards on a regular basis
  8. Stay up-to-date on the latest information in English and Humanities education
  9. Contribute to whole-school planning as required
  10. Deliver and assess GCSE and Functional Skills English qualifications (Entry 1 – Level 2)
  11. Participate in the wider life of the School, including extra-curricular activities

Requirements

  • PGCE or other equivalent teaching qualification (ECT's welcome to apply)
  • Experience of teaching SEND pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour to a high standard
  • Some experience of teaching English and/or Humanities curriculum
  • Experience and knowledge of safeguarding
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Experience of planning lessons and creating schemes of work
  • Level 2 in Maths and English
  • ICT literate
  • Excellent communication skills
