Thorn Baker Construction is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their team. As a leading masonry specialist, they require an experienced professional to assist in managing project costs and ensuring successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of project contracts and framework agreements, ensuring accurate cost reflection.
- Prepare project costs using agreed Schedules of Rates, built-up net costs, sub-contractor quotes, and agreed mark-ups for general overhead, indirect overhead, direct overhead, risk, and profit.
- Issue sub-contract and purchase orders accurately, on time, and in line with project contract requirements.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the developing project, adjusting costs accordingly, and ensuring variation information is issued and approved to facilitate successful project delivery.
- Proactively monitor and negotiate sub-contract variations to agreement.
- Identify and highlight potential risks, working with the project team to eliminate or reduce them.
- Prepare accurate project Cost Value Reconciliations and report these at staged valuations and final account.
- Attend site meetings as required.
- Minimum qualification: HND in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management.
- At least 3 years' relevant experience within the last 8 years.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented and proactive team player, with a positive attitude and practical approach.
