About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Railway Technician to join our team at Network Rail. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team to maintain and repair the electrification system, ensuring that power flows safely and efficiently through the rail network.
  • Specialize in the discipline of Distribution and Plant, with a focus on inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal techniques.
  • Lead and motivate a team of operatives to deliver safe and efficient work, while consistently role-modeling safe behaviors and challenging potential risks to safety.
  • Develop and implement safe systems of work, and ensure that all team members have the necessary competencies to meet our strict safety standards.
  • Work in a variety of conditions, including outdoors in all weathers, and be comfortable with manual work, transporting kit, and working in challenging terrain.
Requirements
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear instructions to the team and other colleagues.
  • Technical skills, with knowledge and experience of inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal techniques in the discipline of Distribution and Plant.
  • Safety-focused, with a consistent record of role-modeling safe behaviors and challenging potential risks to safety.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to find safe and effective solutions to issues encountered in the working environment.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills and competencies relevant to the discipline of Distribution and Plant.
  • Relevant qualification, such as an NVQ Level 1 or 2 linked to the discipline of Distribution and Plant, or equivalent level of relevant experience.
