Metro Bank Plc seeks a seasoned External Communications expert to drive our media and public affairs strategy, enhancing our brand reputation and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development and implementation of integrated external communication plans, aligning with corporate objectives and priorities.
  2. Manage media relations, stakeholder engagement, and public affairs to protect and promote Metro Bank's brand reputation.
  3. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of external communication plans with internal comms and marketing initiatives.
  4. Identify opportunities for thought leadership and campaign development, showcasing Metro Bank's expertise and values.
  5. Develop programmes of activity and campaigns to support corporate, commercial, and operational objectives.
  6. Provide strategic guidance to senior leaders on external communication risks and opportunities.
  7. Cultivate lasting relationships with stakeholders, anticipating and addressing potential challenges.
  8. Serve as primary external spokesperson during crises, leading on media and external communication activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in creating and delivering external communication strategies at a senior level within financial services or regulated environments.
  • Proven expertise in media relations, stakeholder management, public affairs, and crisis communication.
  • Ability to develop short-, medium-, and long-term external communication plans, bringing creativity and fresh ideas to the table.
  • Strong time management skills, with comfort working under pressure and juggling multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build lasting relationships with stakeholders.
