Job Opportunity: Mechanical Building Services Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for a top Facilities Maintenance company, Invictus Group, who are recruiting for a Mechanical Building Services Engineer to cover a site in Bristol. This is a permanent position offering a salary of up to £35,500 per annum.

Job Role and Responsibilities:

You will be required to work between Monday and Friday, 7am - 3:30pm/10am - 5:30pm, alternating weeks, with overtime opportunities available.

  1. Responsible for the safe operation, planned maintenance, and reactive maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, associated plant and equipment installed throughout the site.
  2. Carry out mechanical and electrical works as required, including allocated maintenance, breakdown repairs, installation, new works, refurbishment, and capital works replacement programme.
  3. Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs and cleaning of mechanical components and equipment.
  4. Maintain and carry out repairs on HVAC systems, gas appliances, piped medical gas systems, steam plant and equipment, and all other equipment in plant rooms, patient areas, and other departments.
  5. Prepare pressure vessels for insurance inspections and carry out necessary repairs/testing.
  6. Oversee specialist sub-contractors and manage contractors as necessary, working to a safe system of work and permit-to-work system.
  7. Ensure that planned maintenance and reactive tasks are attended to in accordance with the contract timescales at all times.
Requirements and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 2 or 3 in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.

  1. Plumbing experience is essential.
  2. Desirable to hold some electrical trade qualifications or 18th Edition certification, but not essential.
  3. Must have a thorough understanding of engineering building services installation and maintenance techniques.
  4. Good knowledge of M&E testing, fault finding, maintenance, refurbishment, and installation.
  5. Must be able to work independently and, when appropriate, as part of a team.
  6. Willing to attain cross-skilling.
  7. Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose technical faults.
  8. Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  9. IT literate, with ambition for personal development.
