About the Role

RPS Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Birmingham. As a key member of our Building Services team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical building services systems for new build and refurbishment projects.
  • Collaborate with senior staff on feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
  • Attend design team meetings and contribute to the development of project designs.
  • Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems to ensure compliance with legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Undertake mechanical design work, including surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects.
  • Work closely with other design team members to ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Utilize Building Services software for calculations and produce marked-up drawings for CAD or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for costing and installation by Contractors.
  • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in designing principle mechanical systems from concept to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A).
  • Knowledge of chilled water, domestic hot and cold water systems, heating systems, and Building Regulations Part L compliance.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
