Job Description

**Job Title:** HV Cable Design Engineer

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled HV Cable Design Engineer to join our team at Advance TRS. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing underground cable systems for our clients in the transmission and distribution sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop underground cable systems for transmission and distribution projects
  • Conduct cable forces and cable sizing calculations for various installation and operational scenarios
  • Design cable pulling plans, perform calculations, and review installation drawings
  • Select materials and accessories, produce the Bill of Quantities for projects and tenders
  • Coordinate with suppliers, review product designs and type test certificates, and provide technical support to the procurement team
  • Collaborate with other teams (such as OHL, Substations, and Protection) and various project stakeholders
  • Support the Operations team during the construction period

Requirements:

  • Minimum of ISCED level 4 (post-secondary non-tertiary) HNC in a STEM subject, preferably with an Electrical Engineering focus
  • A basic understanding and grounding in HV Cable Design gained through initial industry experience
  • Proficiency in using CAD design software
  • Awareness of key health and safety impacts on UGC construction contracts
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • ISCED level 7 (Bachelor's degree) or level 8 (Master's degree) in Engineering or a relevant discipline
  • Continual commitment to personal and professional development
  • Driving licence is beneficial
