Job Overview

Cooneen Defence Ltd, in partnership with Queen's University Belfast, is seeking a highly motivated Sustainability Lead to develop a circular value-chain management system for ‘end-of-life’ textiles. This is a collaborative 24-month project that will enable Cooneen to become a leader in delivering circular fabric solutions, ensuring continued business growth.

About the Project

The successful candidate will work closely with the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) at Queen's to deliver a range of key stages, including understanding Cooneen’s manufacturing process, developing a dynamic system to track regulations and legislation, and enhancing networks and partnerships for recycling activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Understand Cooneen’s manufacturing process and model capabilities across locations.
- Develop a system to track relevant regulations and legislation.
- Understand customers’ current and potential future needs and expectations.
- Develop and enhance networks and partnerships for recycling activities.
- Embed a circular value-chain management system and related operational plans and pathways to create sustainable business models.

About You

To succeed in this role, you must have a relevant undergraduate degree, a module or project in sustainable and/or circular manufacturing, and a minimum of 9 months of commercial experience. Strong understanding of recycling and sustainability trends, textile materials, and production processes is essential. Desirable skills include higher education in a relevant discipline and knowledge of sustainable certifications and regulations.
