About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at JCB. As a key member of our Group Electrics & Controls Excavator team, you will play a critical role in the delivery of electrical and electronic engineering across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate customer requirements into clear and concise design specifications
  • Select and specify electrical hardware platforms to meet technical and cost targets
  • Develop prototype solutions to validate proof of concept ideas
  • Create and manage drawing release plans to ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Coordinate with 3rd party vendors to release new components
  • Ensure design for manufacture and assembly considerations are met
  • Work with industry-standard development techniques to optimize harness design
  • Support build coordination and ensure latest design revisions are implemented
  • Maintain accurate records of designs, revisions, and updates
  • Drive re-use of components and approaches to improve efficiency
  • Support cause and effect analysis, risk assessments, and design verification processes
Requirements
  • Qualified to HND/Degree level in an electronic/software-based technology discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience within Tier 1 or OE sectors (on highway or off highway) with CAD
  • Experience of ECN release and checking to drive consistent standards
  • Experience working with Electrical design tools (Siemens Teamcentre preferred)
  • Performing engineering calculations for electrical load balancing and wire sizing
  • Experience working with low voltage 12/24V DC vehicle systems
  • Understanding of good practice for E&E component placement and harness routing
  • Comfortable working with electronic lab tools and serial tools
  • Ability to read and digest complex information relating to internal and external procedures
