EHS Program Support Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) professional to support our EHS program at our Towcester location.

This is a 6-month contract position that will focus on ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations.

The successful candidate will have experience in EHS operations, knowledge of hazardous waste management, and expertise in environmental monitoring techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Environmental Monitoring and Sampling:
    1. Conduct velocity testing to assess air movement in controlled environments.
    2. Perform swab sampling and stack VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) monitoring for compliance and environmental health.
    3. Maintain and monitor fume cabinets to ensure safe containment and operation.
  2. Waste Management:
    1. Oversee the bulking of hazardous waste (excluding collection preparation/coordination).
    2. Analyse and characterise waste, liaising with waste vendors to ensure proper disposal.
    3. Prepare hazardous waste for collection and maintain accurate logs and invoices for all site waste.
  3. Compliance and Documentation:
    1. Maintain COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and risk assessments.
    2. Update and manage procedure documents to align with regulatory standards and site requirements.
  4. Incident Response and Analysis:
    1. Respond to calls for investigating spills, performing pH testing, and emergency phosphorus checks.
    2. Conduct weekend analyses and provide rapid response to unplanned events to minimise risks.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    1. Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies for EHS program enhancement.
    2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive safety and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in EHS operations with knowledge of the management of chemical and hazardous materials.
  • Expertise in hazardous waste management and environmental monitoring techniques.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organisational abilities.

Salary: £35,000-£45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
