About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team at the National Physical Laboratory. As a Senior Buyer, you will play a key role in upholding quality while driving down cost. You will be responsible for a portfolio of products, materials, or services, overseeing the entire buying lifecycle from tender process to order placement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, manage, negotiate with, and monitor suppliers to ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
- Take ownership of procurement processes, including tendering, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to drive value and improve procurement outcomes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to inform procurement strategies.
Requirements:
- MCIPS or equivalent degree qualification.
- Experience in Public Sector Buying and understanding of Public Procurement Regulations and The Procurement Act.
- Proven track record in Public Sector procurement and use of Frameworks.
- Expertise in using procurement systems and E-tendering portals such as Bravo Solutions.
- Ability to negotiate at the highest levels with suppliers.
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to deal with ambiguity and change.
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral.
