The S.O.A.R programme is designed to support students who require additional support and guidance. The programme provides a safe and structured environment for students to learn and develop essential skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to students
  • Supervise and support students who are suspended from or not working to a normal timetable
  • Attend to students' personal needs and provide advice to assist in their social development
  • Establish productive working relationships with students and act as a role model
  • Support mentoring arrangements with students and provide support for distressed students
  • Provide information and advice to enable students to make positive choices about their own behaviour
  • Challenging and motivating students, promoting and reinforcing self-esteem and resilience
  • Provide feedback to students in relation to progress, achievement, behaviour and attendance
  • Keep accurate records of performance, behaviour and attendance for the commissioning school
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required to other staff
  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies
  • Manage work for S.O.A.R. students, liaising with commissioning schools
Requirements

We are seeking a qualified and experienced individual who has:

  • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent
  • Child Protection qualification or willingness to undertake training
  • Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour
  • Experience of working in a school/education environment
